To not have made as much progress as had been planned in order to meet a particular deadline. I've fallen so far behind schedule that I'll never get this report done by Friday. I can't take a sick day or I'll fall behind schedule on planning for our end-of-year fundraiser. A: "Did the due date get moved up or something?" B: "No, I just fell behind schedule when I forgot to factor in my vacation time off."
