So terrible, distressing, or grievous as to shake the foundations of one's faith or hope. The tragedy of those two young boys' deaths is enough to make the angels weep. I couldn't finish that book about the Holocaust, because, unsurprisingly, the subject matter was enough to make the angels weep. That murderer's vicious crimes are enough to make the angels weep. Just thinking about them gives me chills.
