To reduce the pressure or urgency placed on a person, thing, action, or situation. Ease off on the brakes there—we don't want to come to a stop that fast. Would you ease off on me already? I know I messed up the account, and I don't need you berating me for it further. Ease off on Samantha, she's under a lot of pressure at home.
