To make money in order to support oneself financially. In the UK, "quid" is a nickname for one pound sterling. Primarily heard in UK. If you quit your job at the hospital, how on earth will you earn a quid? Look, I'm just trying to earn a quid. No, working in a canning factory isn't exactly glamorous, but we've all got to earn a quid somehow.
