1. To fall down. I hardly remember the end of the marathon because I dropped down as soon as I crossed the finish line. This is how kids learn to walk—they take a few steps, drop down, get up, and start all over again. Stay off those icy steps or you'll drop down right on your behind!
2. To fall from a higher point. The garland dropped down and landed on the lower branches of the Christmas tree. A: "What happened to the 'Congratulations' banner? Oh, it dropped down onto the cubicles." B: "When you hang it back up, really secure it this time, huh? If that branch drops down, it'll land right on your car, dude.
