slang To explore and gain information about a place, area thing, etc.; to perform reconnaissance. Used especially in filmmaking. "Recce" is a shortening of "reconnaissance." Primarily heard in UK, Australia. Location scouts have done a recce, and they think this beach would be the perfect setting for the break-up scene. I've done a recce of the area, and there's a restaurant that looks really good just down the street. We need a team of soldiers to do a recce of the area and ascertain the threat here.
