dead-tree edition
A copy of a written work printed on paper (i.e., the product of "dead" trees), especially that which is also available in a digital format. With everything available online these days, it's a wonder anyone would pay for the dead-tree edition. A: "Wait, you guys had actual textbooks? Like, dead tree editions?" B: "Yes. Keep in mind, the Internet was only a few years old when we were in high school!" Personally, I always prefer to hold the dead-tree edition of a book in my hands.
