cut in line

cut in line

To enter somewhere in the middle of a line of people who are waiting for something, rather than standing behind the last person, as is customary. Primarily heard in US. Hey, don't cut in line! Get behind the rest of us! The guy from all the way back there totally just cut in line! I doubt he'll be able to cut in line—everyone in the security line at the airport is equally frazzled and in a rush.
