cut (one's) wisdom teeth

To reach an age or state of maturity. I think that we should hire an older, more experienced candidate, one who has already cut her wisdom teeth. Jan cut her wisdom teeth in this field decades ago, so her perspective and expertise will be invaluable to us. As long as they're not using dated or debunked techniques, I'm not opposed to seeing a therapist who's already cut their wisdom teeth.
