copy (something) out of (something)

To write something exactly as it appeared in another source. My grandmother used to copy all of her recipes out of cookbooks and onto index cards. If you copy something out of one these books and put it in your paper, you do know you have to cite it, right? That line really resonated with me, so I copied it out of the book.
