complete game
complete game
In baseball, a game in which one pitcher pitches all nine innings. (A starting pitcher is typically replaced with a relief pitcher after several innings.) If Smith can keep pitching through the ninth inning, he can add a complete game to his resume! Now that teams are so cautious with their starters' pitch counts, it's surprising to see a complete game anymore. That pitcher threw six complete games? In this age of analytics? Dang, he definitely earned those awards and accolades then.
