To return to someone or some place in a dejected or humbled fashion. He made a big spectacle when he quit, only to come crawling back after a month. This isn't the first time he's had an affair and then come crawling back to his wife. I just don't understand why she keeps forgiving him. I promised myself that I would never come crawling back to this two-bit town, no matter what the future might bring.
