A general sentiment of suspicion of wrongdoing or illegality. There's a cloud of suspicion in work after it came to light that someone has been stealing from the cash registers. This cloud of suspicion won't go away until I'm exonerated in court, and who knows how long that process will take? Those tabloid reports have raised a cloud of suspicion around the famous couple's possibly illegitimate marriage.
