can't take (something)

To be unable to endure or tolerate some unpleasant, critical, harsh, or abusive treatment, whether physical or emotional. He said he wanted honest feedback for his play, but he couldn't take the slightest bit of criticism. Military training is grueling, and some people just can't take it. I've got to find another job—I cannot take any more of the bickering in that office!
