1. By stating the specific name of someone or something. When you get there, just ask for Joe by name—he'll be expecting you. She'll look good before the panel if she remembers to address each member by name. Don't worry, the barista will call you by name when your coffee is ready.
2. In the sense of knowing one's name, as opposed to simply recognizing their face. It's pretty impressive that she knows every single student by name—there are hundreds! I only know him by name. I've never met him before. That pretty girl over there is Holly, right? I need you to introduce me to her—I only know her by name.
