informal Feeling an intense and persistent desire to have a baby. A reference to a brooding hen. Primarily heard in UK. She always said she didn't want kids, but then around the time she turned 30 she started getting really broody all of a sudden. Yeah, we're trying to get pregnant. My wife is feeling extra broody these days. I thought I would feel broody once both of my sisters had babies, but, to be honest, the thought of becoming a mom still terrifies me.
