bring to light
To reveal something, often something inappropriate or illegal. A noun or pronoun can be used between "bring" and "to." Discrepancies in the yearly budget report brought to light corruption in the company. I never wanted to be a whistleblower, but I'm the only one who can bring these documents to light. A: "You're still going to meet with the board of trustees?" B: "Yes! We have to bring these findings to light, regardless of the scandal it might ultimately reveal."
