break out in(to) tears

To suddenly begin to cry. My mother was fine this morning, but she broke out in tears at the funeral. When I saw that last scene, I broke out in tears. It was just so sad! You did a great job with the eulogy. I definitely would have broken out into tears if I'd done it.
