blow (one's) nose

To breathe forcefully through the nose to expel mucus into a tissue. My allergies are so bad right now that I have to blow my nose constantly just to be able to breathe. Where are the tissues? I need to blow my nose. Ugh, I've had to blow my nose so much with this cold that I've rubbed my face raw.

blow one's nose

to expel mucus and other material from the nose using air pressure from the lungs. Excuse me, I have to blow my nose. Bill blew his nose into his handkerchief.
