1. Large, powerful, and influential commercial organizations and financial firms considered collectively. Sometimes capitalized. The politician promised that she would put the needs of people and the planet ahead of the greedy desires of Big Business. It's easy to castigate big business as the root of all evil in our society, but would our society even exist without the presence and resources these corporations have brought us? This tax plan is really outrageous. Trust the government to favor big business over middle-class citizens, huh?
2. Some commercial activity or enterprise that is very profitable. It may seem very silly at face value, but toy reviews by kids are big business on ViewTube. One kid pulled in nearly $26 million last year! Tourism is big business on this small island, so a ban on visitors would be devastating to our local economy. Apparently, selling refreshments and knockoff t-shirts outside the arena is big business.
