be there for (one)
To be willing and readily available to be a source of comfort and support for one in the face of hardship or suffering. I promised to be there for my friend Ann after her mother died. You were always there for us, Mom, even when we didn't appreciate it. I've been going through a lot lately, but I can always count on my best friend to be there for me, thank goodness.
