To be the biggest, oldest, most impressive, or most respected of a certain kind of person or thing. I own a lot of vintage cars, but my 1926 Bentley is the granddaddy of them all. There are so many competitors in the PC market now, but the leader of the pack, Spikerosoft, is the granddaddy of them all. You don't like Led Zeppelin IV? Come on, that's, like, the granddaddy of all classic rock albums!
