be strapped

be strapped

To not have any or very much money at the moment; to be broke, especially temporarily. Would you mind paying for dinner? I'm a little strapped at the moment. My brother always complains that he's strapped, but he refuses to go find a job! I'm sorry I can't donate more money, but I recently got a huge medical bill, and I've been kind of strapped.
