To get away from or get rid of someone or something. Primarily heard in UK. You advisor is untrustworthy, and you need to be shot of him sooner than later. Dad, if you're not shot of this neighborhood soon, you're liable to be robbed too! Your new employee seems kind of shady to me. I think we should be shot of him sooner than later.
