1. To be aging. Now that I'm getting on, I can't stay up late every night like I used to. So you're getting on, so what? Age is just a number, after all. I'm getting on, and I can't eat all kinds of junk food without gaining an ounce the way I used to. Enjoy it while it lasts, kid!
2. To be getting late. It's getting on, so we had better make lunch before it turns into dinnertime! Because it was getting on, I had Phil drop me off at the train station. I certainly didn't want to miss the last train of the night! Kids, it's getting on, so go get into your pajamas.
