be at a turning point

be at a turning point

To be at a point at which some event, activity, situation, condition, etc., begins to change in a dramatic way. A: "After years of hard work, one of our products has become a runaway success! I think we're finally at a turning point with the business." B: "I'd say so. Demand is far outpacing supply, and that has never happened before." The medication is clearly not having the desired effect, so we're now at a turning point in our treatment options. Either we try something much riskier, or else we transition the patient into palliative care. The company's been losing money for years now—I doubt we'll ever be at a turning point.
