Something for one to gain from a particular situation. Why should I help that jerk? Is there anything it for me? Is there anything in it for Stan? That's the only way you'll get him to work with you on this. A: "Anything in it for me, though?" B: "A promotion might become available." A: "Interesting."

anything/nothing/something in it for somebody

(informal) any/no/some advantage, especially financial, to somebody: He wanted to know more about the business but I told him there was nothing in it for him.
