a warm send-off

An instance in which one's departure is met with a display of great affection, friendliness, or care. I knew that leaving was the right decision, but the warm send-off I got from my former coworkers made the move very bittersweet. The night before I flew to America, the entire town came out to give me a warm send-off at the local pub. He was expecting a warm send-off when he retired, but all he got was a farewell card signed by a couple people from his department.
