Steady Eddie

Someone who can always be relied upon to do what is needed of or assigned to them. Can be used in reference to women as well as men. Sometimes spelled "Steady Eddy." The guy's been a Steady Eddy in this company for nearly 30 years. Every day he shows up on time and doesn't stop working until it's time to go home. The player isn't the flashiest pitcher in the league, but he's a real Steady Eddy, delivering consistently solid performances each game.
