People of the Book

1. In Islam, adherents of certain other religions that are rooted in divine revelation, primarily Christians and Jews. A translation of the Arabic phrase Ahl al-Kitāb. Traditionally, Muslims have viewed and treated People of the Book more favorably than other non-believers.
2. In Judaism, the Jews. Used to underscore the importance of the Torah to adherents of Judaism. Why do you think you had to read from the Torah at your Bar Mitzvah? Because we are People of the Book!
