FIAWOL

An acronym for "fandom is a way of life," used as a slogan by fandom subcultures, especially science fiction fandoms, to express how important the subculture is in their lives. A: "My parents don't understand why I invest so much time and money in my collections, my cosplay, and my convention trips." B: "I know, it's like FIAWOL is a totally foreign concept to them." Being able to lose myself in the world of Star Wars got me through some really hard times, so I get it—FIAWOL. My mom always understood FIAWOL. She would take me to comic book conventions when I was just a kid!
