City of Light

City of Light

A nickname for the city of Paris, France. A: "Gosh, look at way Paris sparkles at night. No wonder they call it the City of Light!" B: "Actually, I heard it got that name because King Louis XIV ordered the installation of lighting on all the main streets in order to cut down crime in the 1700s." C: "Oh, I heard it was because of its reputation as a seat of knowledge and innovation during the Age of Enlightenment." A: "Have you ever been to the City of Light?" B: "No, actually, I've never been to France at all." Who goes to the City of Light but doesn't see the Eiffel Tower at night?
