Big Dig

A nickname for the construction project that rerouted part of Interstate 93 under Boston, Massachusetts. A: "Geez, I thought the Big Dig would never end!" B: "Well, it did take 16 years to complete." If not for the Big Dig, how nuts would traffic in this part of Boston be now? A: "I still hate driving in Boston, Big Dig or not!" B: "Yeah, but you hate all city driving."

Big Dig

n. the extensive, underground interstate highway (and commuter route) tunneled under Boston, MA. The Big Dig has about 300 water leaks raining down inside.
