1. Go away; leave me alone. Usually used as an imperative. Beat it, little brother—I've got things to do. What are you kids doing on my lawn? Beat it! Beat it, creep! I have no interest in going out with you.
2. To leave a place quickly. We need to beat it before the cops get here! The stray cat beat it when she saw my dog coming. Guys, the headmaster's coming—beat it!
