Bank Night
Bank Night
obsolete A lottery event popular in the US during the Great Depression in which a member of a movie theater audience could win a cash prize if their name was called. Primarily heard in US. Wouldn't you know it? The one time they call my name for Bank Night and I had to leave early for a dinner party! We didn't go to the movies often when I was a boy, but my father did make it a point to always go on Bank Night. Our family never won at Bank Night, and we really were desperate for the money, too.
