(something) is not going to (do something) itself

The object of some action is not going to perform the action all by itself. Used as a way of chiding someone for not doing something. Well, get to work! Those spreadsheets aren't going to write themselves! Come on, get up off your lazy butt. The grass isn't going to mow itself. All right, I better get in the kitchen—dinner isn't going to cook itself.
