#YesAllWomen

#YesAllWomen

A hashtag typically used to accompany women's accounts of encountering sexual misconduct and sexism and intended to show how widespread such experiences are. It was popularized in 2014 in the aftermath of the Isla Vista killings perpetrated by Elliot Rodger, whose misogynistic manifesto promoted violence against women. The hashtag emerged as a counter to #NotAllMen, which was often used in an attempt to emphasize that not all men mistreat women. Women face an omnipresent threat of harassment. #YesAllWomen Even if you're a man who treats women well, #YesAllWomen still have to deal with the violent and misogynistic guys of the world. You being a good guy doesn't erase that pain. Willing to bet that #YesAllWomen have had to deal with loud-mouthed male classmates and co-workers talking over them.
