The section of a newspaper in which job openings are listed. Primarily heard in UK. A: "Anything good in the situations vacant today?" B: "No, and I'm beginning to think I'll be unemployed forever." You should try networking with some of your friends from grad school because I doubt you're going to find your dream job in the situations vacant.
