ouch

1. An exclamation of physical pain, especially that which is acute but not serious. A: "OK, try to relax, the shot will only hurt for a second." B: "Ouch!" Ouch! Ugh, another stupid paper cut.
2. An acknowledgement of some disappointment or unpleasantness. A: "I'm pretty bummed—I studied all weekend, and I only got a C." B: "Ooh, ouch." The boss wants your report in an hour? Ouch, that's rough.
