holy hell

1. The brunt of another's intense anger, often relayed through scolding. If I get home past curfew again, I'm really going to catch holy hell from my parents! Listen, you're gonna catch holy hell from the other committee members if you keep blowing off meetings. A: "Man, I caught holy hell from the boss for losing that big account." B: "We know, we could hear the yelling all the way out here."
2. interjection An exclamation of shock, indignation, exasperation, irritation, etc. Holy hell—it's already 11 o'clock! I have to get back home! Oh, holy hell! My computer crashed, so I just lost all of my work! Holy hell, the bill for that dinner was nearly $200!
