slang To die and thus return home in a coffin (a "box"). When I served in Vietnam, I definitely thought I'd be going home in a box, but luck was on my side, I guess. Are you sure you're not too tired to drive? I really don't want to go home in a box! Would you be careful leading us on these windy mountain roads? I'm not looking to go home in a box, you know!
