1. To ignore someone until they stop pestering or trying to get in touch with one, rather than directly expressing one's disinterest. Typically used in reference to failed or would-be romantic connections. That guy I went out with last week kept texting me, but I just wasn't interested, so I had to ghost him. Look, I know you feel awkward about telling the guy you're not interested, but don't ghost him—it's just childish and cowardly. A: "If you're not into this girl, why are you still talking to her?" B: "What am I supposed to do, ghost her?"
2. To kill someone. The boss told Ray to ghost the informant. The man said he'd ghost me if I told anyone that I'd seen him burying the money in the field. Because she's the prosecution's star witness, I'm worried the defendant will ghost her before she ever gets a chance to testify against them.
