cross the picket line

To enter a place of work outside which a group of striking workers have formed a protest. I felt bad crossing the picket line like that, but I didn't agree with their demands and just couldn't afford to lose my job. The only way management is going to start treating us fairly is if we all stick together out here and no one crosses the picket line! She has been criticized for crossing the picket line to return to work before the strike was over.
