catch hell for (something)

To be scolded or upbraided angrily by someone for some particular reason. If I get home past curfew again, I'm really going to catch hell for it from my parents! I know Tom caught hell from the boss for the mistake in his report. Boy, I really caught hell for screwing up the Lawson account.
