cast up
1. To throw or toss someone or something ashore. A noun or pronoun can be used between "cast" and "up." The choppy waters cast me up, coughing and spluttering on the beach. A child must have lost a toy boat in the ocean because the waves just cast up its wreckage. Looks like there's fish flapping around in the sand. Guess he was cast up by the rough waves.
2. To calculate something. The morning after another rather indulgent evening, I decided it was high time for me to cast up my accounts. You better cast up your debt so you can start paying it back! Has anyone cast up the bill yet? How much do we owe?
