cast (one's) eyes over (something)

To examine or review something quickly or perfunctorily. He cast his eyes over his desk to make sure he had everything before leaving the office for the night. You don't have to read this document in detail—just cast your eyes over it when you get a chance. We've already edited this proposal a few times, so you just need to cast your eyes over it at this point.
