deep thinker

A person who has remarkably intelligent or profound thoughts. My grandfather wasn't a fighting man, he was a deep thinker; he tried to understand the cause of a problem, not attack it. I never thought Nate was a deep thinker, but wow, breaking your pitching hand at a party the week before the playoffs is a new level of stupid. I always thought Uncle Ned was a deep thinker, so I'm shocked he believes so many conspiracy theories now.
