slang A story focused around the mystery of a crime or series of crimes, especially murder, and discovering who committed it. He has written novels in several other genres, but his whodunits are by far his most popular books. I'm currently writing a whodunit about a group of friends who become stranded in a cabin in the mountains, when one of them is suddenly found murdered.
