Popularized by the 1946 song "There's No Business Like Show Business" by Irving Berlin, written for the musical Annie Get Your Gun. The hours may be long, but I've never felt so invigorated as I do when I'm working on a new stage production. There's no business like show business, baby!

The theater and those who work in it belong to a special sphere. This rhyming expression was the title of a song by Irving Berlin (in Annie Get Your Gun, 1946) and has virtually attained cliché status. See also show must go on.
