Nam

A shortening of "Vietnam," usually referring to the Vietnam War. Sometimes written in lower case with an apostrophe ('nam). My uncle was never quite the same when he came back from fighting in Nam. I thought I would be drafted to fight in 'nam back when I was in college, but an irregularity with my heart meant I couldn't become a soldier.
